I'm in thrall to the baldness only age can bestow,

and I'm getting worse the older I grow.

He is prone to the fatness, and to being a gaunch.

Very well padded, including a paunch.

He has to concede that he looks well fed.

Everyone knows I'm not bald, and he's not really fat.

Could someone tell us the meaning of that?

When they charged me with saying something they deemed absurd.

"You're being bald, Dad", was frequently heard.

And when he would say something which would get me annoyed.

"I'm just being fat", he'd say, overjoyed

at him having succeeded in aggravating me.

"One nil", he would claim, "to the Knights of Nee".
